Welcome to the Cultivate family village!

Always free, Cultivate Kids programming offers a vibrant blend of creativity and education. With interactive workshops, engaging performances, and hands-on activities, children explore art, music, nature, and more, fostering their curiosity and imagination in an inclusive and joyful environment.

Cultivate Kids will find opportunities to make friends, make art and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Cultivate Kids are ALWAYS free thanks to the generous support of Jacqueline Pennington.

Friday

September 22

Blanket Toss with The Land Canadian Adventures
5:45 - 6:30 p.m.

Join the team from The Land to kick off Cultivate with a fun and thrilling blanket toss. This human powered trampoline was created by Inuit, as a technology for hunters to work together to scan the surrounding area. Get your best view of the festival by flying high with the blanket toss!

Nick's Tattoo Studio
5:15 - 6:30 p.m.

Nickola Magnolia is playing some country music at Cultivate on Friday night, but she’s also a tattoo artist and has a shop in downtown Port Hope. Join her and her team pre-show as they get you tatted up with custom temporary tattoos. You’re gonna want to make sure you show these off in the crowd at her performance!

Saturday

September 23

Forest & Field Fun - Carving
11:25 - 11:50 a.m.

Discover the creative possibiliies of wood-carving in this hands on lesson for beginners. Safety is the top priority, and you must be 12 or older to participate. This is a two-part workshop, so if you love what you learned, come back later on Saturday afternoon for round two! Age 12+

Square Dancing
12:30 - 1 p.m.

Hannah Shira Naiman comes from a long line of folk musicians and dancers, and has been dancing her entire life. Her specialty is American Oldtime Square dances from Appalachia, and dances for all ages, for the whole family are her specialty. Join Hannah and her old timey band to get your body moving while having a whole lotta fun.

 mini Shmurgles
12:30 - 2 p.m. + 2 - 4:00 p.m.

Head down behind the goat barn, where it's all about the goats! Enjoy a taste of Haute Goat's signature experience - the Shmurgle. Join us in the Goat Playground to cuddle, snuggle and love on the Haute Goats. Prepare to do a lot of giggling. Shmurgling will leave you feeling joyful and just plain happy. Make sure to bring your camera.

2 - 4:00 p.m. + 5.- 7:00 p.m.

Slow down and take a load off. The views of this amazing property are what it’s all about. That and the extremely photographable moments!

The Land - Field Games (meet at Cultivate Kids)
3:05 - 3:30 p.m.

Wildy fun, ecologically inspired field and forest wide games!

Kids Choir at cultivate academy
3:35 - 4:00 p.m.

Everybody can sing, and Kids Choir is here to prove it. Come together with your favourite festival pals and become part of the Cultivate magic as we teach you a hit song and you become the performer. Hosted by Shannon Linton.

Forest & Field Fun - Cordage
4 - 4:25 p.m.

Did you know that inner bark from the linden or basswood tree makes an amazing, useful fiber? Join Sally from The Land to create cordage, to make bracelets, string bows, and a key ingredient in making the ancient fire starting technology that is the bow drill!

Intro to Pow Wow
5:25 - 6 p.m.

Join Nimkii Osawamick (Odawa/Potwatomi from Wiikwemkoong) of Nimkii and the Niniis for an interactive dance performance. Nimkii will share his traditional, champion Powwow dancing skills, with his own unique artistic style.

September 24

kIDZ BOP BOOGIE BINGO
11:25 - 11:50 a.m.

Get ready to do the dab at this pop music themed bingo bonanaza. Think: a classic game of bingo, but played with clips from your favourite pop songs.

Inuit Games
12 - 12:25 p.m.

Inuit throat singers Heidi Metcalfe and Lynda Brown are also mothers, community care-takers, and love to have a good time. Join Heidi, Lynda & family for a fun, participatory demonstration of Inuit traditional games. How high can you kick?

1 - 3:00 p.m.

The parade is coming! Craft yourself a nice costume and prepare yourself for the festival stage! 

Musical Spoons and kids parade
2:45 - 3:30 p.m.

Join The Vaudevillian for a ton of laughs and some new skills.Transport yourself to th 1930’s and learn the craft of spoons and join the band for a while! 

Dress up fancy, grab a flag, we’re going on parade to show off for all of Cultivate to see just how wonderful and wacky Cultivate Kids can get! Meet at the campfire to don your parade-wear and set out for a fun promenade through the festival grounds.
